Things To Do

1. Wash the toys- Fill a water table for small toys, or a plastic pool for big toys, fill with some dish soap to make bubbles and give the kids old rags. Have them wash their toys.
2. Red light, Green Light- Kids run outside, when you say green light they go, when you say red light they freeze.
3. "Paint" the sidewalk or house- Give the kids a bucket of water and a paintbrush. They can paint designs on the sidewalk, or pretend to paint the house.

The 2010 May Fair will take place on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (raindate: May 30 from noon to 5 p.m.). Don't miss the fun!

General Information:
Collingswood, New Jersey will be bursting with art, music and activities for all ages on Saturday, May 29 as Collingswood Partners hosts the 31st Annual May Fair. What began in 1979 as a small “clothesline art exhibit” now encompasses more than ten blocks of the business district along Haddon Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Rain Date May 30 from noon to 5 p.m.)

Tens of thousands of people attended the 2009 event. More than 150 artists and crafters will display and sell their unique creations in a juried show. Children will have their day of fun in the “KidZone” featuring pony rides, carnival games and rides.

Six stages of live music will feature blues, rock, folk and more. An antique & classic auto show and Harley-Davidson motorcycle display and contest will add to the festival’s appeal. Visitors will also find several Food Courts complimenting the downtown restaurants & cafés.

There will be everything from pulled pork to funnel cake! May Fair also welcomes the return of the renowned Collingswood Farmers Market offering “Jersey Fresh” produce and florals sold in a delightful open air atmosphere

Riverwinds

If you walk in a full loop from the door, you have walked 1 1/2 miles. There are birds and other animals to watch. The kids love to watch the boats and all the dogs right on the river. I brought their sand toys and they collected rocks and dug in the dirt for about an hour. If they get hungry or thirsty, you can stop at the vending machines inside of riverwinds.

Johnson's Farm

Johnson's farm in Medford

This place was the best farm we have been to so far. There is hayrides, all kinds of pick your own (seasonal) and greenhouses full of plants. There is a crazy bridge to walk across, and other little attractions. You can feed the animals (pigs, goats, horses, chickens and more) and the best part is the playground. There are different sections for different ages, little car and tractor bikes you can drive, a tractor you can play on, and little setups with play fruit and chickens and eggs. Another favorite of my kids was the large sandbox where you can dig with shovels and rakes.

Atlantic City

The beach is free at AC and it's the closest to us, so it's where we normally go. We pay $10 to park at Caesar's (and it is more than worth the convenience when you have two kids. We bring the beach toys and go on the beach, there is an outside shower about a block from the pier, eat pizza and watch the water show in the Caesar's pier which is every 30 minutes starting at 12. The rainforest cafe is worth a drink or snack because the inside is so cool for kids.

2. West Deptford Park- a little over a mile if you walk all the way around, playground

4. "turtle" park - can go on "beach"
5. Fasola Park in Deptford- Duck pond, two nice playgrounds- one in the sun and one in the shade

Outside Activities To try

1. Fill a water table with cornmeal to play with or rice it's a change from sand...
2. Give kids a bucket, go for a walk and have them collect treasures

4. Let them play in the rain in their boots and coat
5. Take photos ahead of time, load in spongebob and have a scavenger hunt.
